Ligier occupies an unusual part of the vehicle market. Models such as the JS50 and Myli are compact quadricycles rather than conventional passenger cars, while Ligier also builds professional utility vehicles and, through a separate motorsport business, racing cars. Ligier car finance in the UK therefore depends heavily on the exact vehicle, how it is registered and whether a lender is willing to fund a specialist import.

How does Ligier car finance work in the UK?
A current manufacturer-backed UK Ligier finance programme could not be verified. Ligier Group’s consumer website mainly presents products and finance for continental European markets, and its legal information states that the models and offers shown can vary by country.
UK buyers may instead be considering a used Ligier already registered here or a vehicle sourced from Europe. Funding could involve Hire Purchase, a personal loan or another specialist product.
Quadricycle status matters before the finance application
The JS50 and many Myli versions are designed as light quadricycles. That classification matters because they do not sit in the same legal category as an ordinary car.
In Great Britain, category AM covers qualifying light quadricycles with a maximum design speed above 25km/h but no more than 45km/h and a mass in running order of no more than 425kg, excluding an electric vehicle’s battery.
Not every Ligier version qualifies. Faster variants sold in some European markets can fall into a different quadricycle category, so check the exact registration and specification before buying.
A 16-year-old can drive some light quadricycles, but cannot simply take out the finance
One of the more unusual reasons people research Ligier car finance is that qualifying light quadricycles can be driven in Great Britain from age 16 with the correct category AM entitlement.
That does not mean a 16-year-old can take out ordinary vehicle finance. Credit agreements signed by someone under 18 can create enforceability problems, and lenders generally require the borrower to be an adult.
If a parent or guardian funds the vehicle, they remain responsible for the debt. The lender and insurer should also know who will actually drive it.
Hire Purchase can suit a registered used Ligier
Hire Purchase can be a more natural fit than PCP for a specialist used quadricycle.
You usually pay a deposit followed by fixed monthly instalments. Ownership passes after the required payments and any purchase fee. There is no large Optional Final Payment.
For Ligier car finance, vehicle age, registration status and value may affect whether HP is available. An older imported JS50 may be treated differently from a nearly new Myli that is already registered in the UK.
Read What is HP Car Finance? for a broader explanation.
PCP should not be assumed
The existing Enjoy Finance Ligier page refers to PCP, but a current UK manufacturer-backed Ligier PCP programme could not be verified.
PCP requires an Optional Final Payment based on expected future value. Low UK sales volumes and specialist quadricycle classification can make that valuation harder.
If a lender offers PCP, compare the deposit, APR, monthly payments, annual mileage allowance, Optional Final Payment and return conditions.
Personal Contract Purchase explains the structure in more detail.
A personal loan can help with an imported or privately sold vehicle
An unsecured personal loan can help where the seller does not offer finance or the Ligier falls outside a secured lender’s vehicle criteria.
The lender assesses the borrower rather than taking the Ligier as security. Rates and borrowing limits depend on the applicant.

New JS50 and Myli offers shown in Europe are not automatically UK offers
Ligier’s current European range includes the JS50 and Myli, with diesel and electric versions available in some markets. Its official finance information names Santander Consumer Finance for finance offered through the Ligier Group network.
Ligier’s legal notice also says products and finance can vary by country. Santander’s involvement in continental Europe should not be treated as confirmation of an official UK Ligier finance programme.
Before arranging Ligier car finance on a new import, confirm the selling dealer, UK registration process, warranty position, parts support and the lender that will actually appear on the agreement.
The Pulse range is a separate business proposition
Ligier Professional also makes compact electric utility vehicles such as the Pulse 3 and Pulse 4 for urban delivery and service work.
These are commercial vehicles. Funding may involve asset finance or leasing, but VAT treatment and tax relief depend on the business, vehicle and finance structure.
A company should get tax advice rather than assuming all lease VAT can be recovered.
Ligier Automotive racing cars are not part of the same finance market
Ligier Automotive currently builds competition cars including the JS P325 LMP3 prototype and the JS2 RS GT2 race car.
These are motorsport assets rather than road-going microcars. The JS2 RS is a carbon-monocoque race car with up to 650bhp and GT2 eligibility.
Funding a race car belongs in specialist asset finance with different underwriting and insurance requirements. It should not be presented as an ordinary consumer vehicle-finance product.
Compare the vehicle classification before comparing rates
A Ligier may be harder to finance if it falls outside a lender’s normal vehicle criteria, but rejection is not automatic.
Before choosing Ligier car finance, check the registration category, age, value, import status and intended driver. Then compare the deposit, APR, agreement term, monthly payments, fees and total amount payable.

FAQs
Can you get Ligier finance in the UK?
Potentially. Independent lenders may finance a used or imported Ligier, but a current manufacturer-backed UK Ligier finance programme could not be verified. Availability depends on the vehicle and provider.
Can a 16-year-old drive a Ligier?
Some Ligier versions may meet the Great Britain category AM rules for light quadricycles, which can be driven from age 16 with the correct licence entitlement. Check the exact model and registered specification first.
Can a 16-year-old take out Ligier car finance?
Ordinary consumer credit should not be assumed to be available to someone under 18. An adult financing a vehicle for a younger driver remains responsible for the agreement and should also check the insurer’s requirements.
Is HP available for a Ligier?
It can be. A lender may offer HP on a registered Ligier that meets its age, value and vehicle criteria. Imported or unusual examples may require a provider willing to assess the vehicle individually.
Does Ligier offer finance through Santander?
Ligier Group names Santander Consumer Finance for finance offered through parts of its European dealer network. That does not establish Santander as an official Ligier finance provider in the UK.
