Westfield Car Finance

The leading uk car finance provider

Westfield cars sit outside ordinary vehicle finance. Many are lightweight, low-volume sports cars, some were assembled from kits, and the manufacturer itself is moving into a new ownership era. Westfield car finance therefore depends heavily on whether you are buying a registered used car, a specialist build or a future kit rather than a conventional new vehicle.

How does Westfield car finance work?

There is currently no conventional manufacturer-backed UK finance programme comparable with those offered by large car brands. Westfield Chesil entered voluntary liquidation in April 2026, after which Westfield Sportscars was acquired by Driving-Fun.com.

The new owner says kits and road cars are planned to return to production in March 2027 from its new operation near Circuit Meppen in Germany. In the meantime, the UK market mainly consists of existing registered Westfields, privately built cars and specialist used stock.

A registered Westfield is easier to assess than a box of parts

Vehicle finance normally works best when there is an identifiable, registered asset for the lender to secure the agreement against.

A completed Westfield with a VIN, V5C and registration number gives an underwriter much more information than an unfinished kit. A modular kit may instead need savings, an unsecured personal loan or specialist borrowing.

Car Loans explains how unsecured borrowing differs from finance secured against a vehicle.

IVA and registration history can affect the finance conversation

Kit-built vehicles must meet UK registration rules before they can be used on the road. DVLA requires type approval, and an amateur-built car can go through Individual Vehicle Approval.

The registration issued depends on the parts and evidence supplied. A kit built from new manufacturer-supplied parts can qualify for a current registration. Other builds may receive an age-related or Q registration.

A Q-plate does not by itself mean finance is impossible. It can, however, make valuation more difficult because specification and component history may be less straightforward than on a mass-produced car.

Before applying for Westfield car finance, collect the V5C, IVA documentation, build invoices, service history and details of major components.

Hire Purchase can be a natural fit for registered used cars

Hire Purchase is often easier to understand on a specialist sports car than a future-value product.

You normally pay a deposit and repay the financed balance through fixed monthly instalments. Once every required payment and any purchase fee have been made, ownership passes to you.

There is no Optional Final Payment and no mileage allowance linked to handing the vehicle back. That can suit an enthusiast who intends to keep the car for many years.

Vehicle age and value still affect lender criteria. A lender that accepts a newer factory-built Westfield may not accept an older home-built example on the same terms.

PCP is less straightforward on low-volume cars

Personal Contract Purchase relies on the lender setting an Optional Final Payment based partly on the expected future value of the vehicle.

That can be harder with Westfields because specification varies widely. Engine choice, factory versus amateur construction, age, upgrades, condition and competition use can all affect resale value.

PCP should not be assumed simply because it is common on mass-produced cars. Specialist providers may instead prefer HP or another secured product.

PCP Car Deals explains how PCP normally works.

The Westfield XI has its own enthusiast market

The Westfield Xi Car Finance page covers one of the more distinctive models associated with the marque.

An XI, SE, SEiW, Sport or SEight can differ considerably from another car wearing the same badge. Engine swaps, suspension upgrades, brake conversions and track-focused equipment are common in the used market.

For Westfield car finance, the lender may want the sale invoice and registration details rather than relying on a generic model valuation alone. Buyers should also check that declared modifications match the vehicle’s insurance and registration records.

Track-day plans need to be disclosed before signing

Many Westfields are bought partly because they can be driven on track, but finance agreements do not all treat circuit use in the same way.

Do not assume ordinary road-car finance automatically permits track days, timed competition or motorsport. Read the use restrictions in the proposed agreement and ask the provider to clarify anything unclear before signing.

Insurance is separate. Standard road insurance may exclude circuit use, so specialist track-day cover can be needed. For Westfield car finance, disclose intended track use before signing.

Future kits will still need registration before becoming road cars

Westfield’s current roadmap targets March 2027 for the return of kits and road cars. Buyers interested in that next generation should separate the cost of purchasing a kit from the process of financing a completed registered vehicle.

A kit build can involve the chassis, engine, donor components, tools, IVA fees and registration costs. The final cost can be higher than the initial kit price.

If you intend to borrow for a future build, confirm what the lender is actually financing and when funds are released. Westfield car finance on a finished vehicle may use different underwriting from a loan used to purchase components.

Used values depend on the individual build

Two Westfields of similar age can have very different values. Factory build history, engine, chassis specification, condition, provenance and quality of modifications can matter more than mileage alone.

Before choosing Westfield car finance, inspect the chassis, suspension, brakes, tyres, cooling system and electrical work. Check the paperwork supporting major components and any engine change.

Rarity should not be treated as a promise that the car will appreciate. Finance should remain affordable if the vehicle is worth less than expected when you sell it.

Compare the funding with the exact car

There is little value in searching for one standard Westfield APR because the vehicles themselves vary so much.

Compare the deposit, APR, term, monthly payments, fees and total amount payable. Then look at the car’s registration history, build quality, modification record, insurance position and intended track use.

FAQs

Can I finance a Westfield kit before it is registered?

Possibly, but conventional vehicle finance may not fit an unfinished kit because there is not yet a registered road car securing the agreement. Personal loans or specialist borrowing may be more relevant.

Can I finance a Q-plate Westfield?

Potentially. A Q registration does not automatically prevent finance, but the lender may need more information about the car’s identity, specification, build history and value.

Is HP available on used Westfields?

It can be. HP is often a logical structure for a registered used specialist car because it works towards ownership without relying on an Optional Final Payment. Eligibility depends on the vehicle and applicant.

Can I take a financed Westfield on a track day?

Check the exact finance agreement before doing so. Lenders can impose restrictions on vehicle use, and track-day insurance is normally separate from standard road cover.

Is Westfield building new cars in 2026?

The previous Westfield Chesil business entered liquidation in April 2026 and the brand was acquired by Driving-Fun.com. The current published roadmap targets March 2027 for Westfield kit and road-car production to restart.
